The tumultuous history between The Undertaker and Paul Heyman

At WrestleMania 29,?The Undertaker looks to extend his unprecedented undefeated streak to 21-0 by silencing the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the modern era ? CM Punk. There is certainly no love lost between the two WWE Superstars ??even before Punk took possession of Paul Bearer?s urn and used it as a means to get under The Deadman?s skin, the Superstars had crossed paths before. But now, The Second City Saint is a different competitor ??a better competitor ??and The Phenom?s Streak is in real jeopardy.

There is more to the coming battle, though, than just the personal enmity and history between The Undertaker and CM Punk ??in fact, the greatest variable of the entire equation may be Paul Heyman.

Heyman and The Phenom share a harsh animosity of their own ??a rivalry that endured for years and became bitterly personal with the inclusion of Bearer.

It?s possible that in another lifetime, Heyman and The Phenom could have been allies, but the events transpiring in the early years of 21st century tell a different story. After nearly a decade, could Heyman be the deciding factor in the battle at WrestleMania 29? Why would he alter the course of history other than to feed his own insatiable ego? The answer is simple ??payback.

Autism rate rises to 1 in 50 kids | MNN - Mother Nature Network

The percentage of U.S. kids with autism continues to rise, with the latest estimate showing the highest numbers yet.

?

About 1 in 50 U.S. children (2 percent) ages 6 to 17 have an autism spectrum disorder, according to a new report based on a national survey of parents in 2011 and 2012. That's up from about 1 in 86 children (1.16 percent) reported to have autism in the 2007 survey.

?

Most of the rise is attributed to new autism cases diagnosed after 2008, the researchers said. In particular, there was an increase in cases of older children (ages 10 to 17) diagnosed with mild forms of autism.?

?

The reason for the rise is not known, and cannot be determined from the report. But the findings suggest that doctors and other healthcare professionals are getting better at identifying and diagnosing mild forms of autism, said study researcher Stephen Blumberg, of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics, the organization the released the report.

?

Because the findings are based on parents' reports, and were not confirmed by a doctor or the patient's medical records, they might not be entirely accurate. However, previous estimates based on parental reports have generally matched those based on medical records, the researchers said.

?

The new findings are not directly comparable to a report released last year, which found that 1in 88 children U.S. children has autism. That report was based on information collected in 2008 from 8-year old children living in 14 areas in the United States.

?

The new study is based on phone surveys of 96,000 parents in 2011 and 2012. Parents were asked if a doctor or health care professional had ever diagnosed their child with an autism spectrum disorder.

?

One of the interesting findings of the new report is the large percentage of children that were diagnosed at age 7 or later, said Michael Rosanoff, associate director of Public Health Research & Scientific Review at Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy organization. About 30 percent of children ages 10 to 13, and 14 percent of children ages 14 to 17 were first diagnosed when they were 7 or older. The condition can reliably be diagnosed starting at age 3.

?

These children may have flown under the radar because they were mildly affected, Rosanoff said. But "even mildly affected children who are in general education settings can struggle without, and benefit from, appropriate ASD services," Rosanoff said, referring to autism spectrum disorder.

?

More rigorous studies are needed to determine the true rate of autism, which Rosanoff said he suspects is even higher.

?

Pass it on: About 1 in 50 children has autism, according to results from a national survey of parents.

Obama: Easter, Passover a time to pray, reflect

(AP) ? President Barack Obama is wishing a joyful Easter to those who celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says the Easter and Passover holidays give millions of Christians, Jews and people of other faiths a chance to slow down and recommit themselves to loving their neighbors and seeing everyone as a child of God.

Jews celebrated Passover at sundown on Monday. Easter is Sunday.

In the Republican address, Rep. Terry Lee of Nebraska called for approval of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline to bring oil from Canada's tar sands to Texas Gulf Coast refineries. Lee says the project would help create tens of thousands of jobs.

The Obama administration is considering whether to approve the project, which would run through Lee's home state.

Five year-olds who watch TV for three or more hours a day more likely to be antisocial: But the risk of this behaviour is very small

Mar. 25, 2013 ? Five year-olds who watch TV for three or more hours a day are increasingly likely to develop antisocial behaviours, such as fighting or stealing by the age of seven, indicates research published online in Archives of Disease in Childhood.

But the risk is very small, say the authors, who additionally found that time spent playing computer/electronic games had no impact on behaviour.

Prolonged screen viewing time has been linked to various behavioural and emotional problems in children, say the authors, but most research has focused exclusively on television, and almost all of it has been carried out in the US.

They wanted to explore what psychological and social impact time spent watching TV and playing electronic games might have on children between the ages of five and seven.

They included a representative sample of just over 11,000 children, all of whom were part of the Millennium Cohort Study, which has been tracking the long term health and development of UK children born between 2000 and 2002.

When they were five and then again when they were seven, the children's mothers were asked to describe how well adjusted their offspring were, using a validated Strengths and Difficulties (SDQ) questionnaire.

This contains five scales, measuring conduct problems, emotional symptoms, poor attention span/hyperactivity, difficulties making friends, and empathy and concern for others (pro-social behaviours).

The mums were also asked to report how much time their children spent watching TV and playing computer and electronic games at the age of five.

When they were five, almost two thirds of the children watched TV for between one and three hours every day, with 15% watching more than three hours. Less than 2% watched no TV.

But at this age, they spent considerably less time playing electronic games, and only 3% spent three or more hours engaged in this activity every day.

After taking account of influential factors, including parenting and family dynamics, watching TV for three or more hours a day was significantly associated with a very small increased risk of antisocial behaviour (conduct problems) between the ages of five and seven.

But spending a lot of time in front of the TV was not linked to other difficulties such as emotional problems or attention issues. And spending time playing electronic games had no similar impact, the analysis showed, although this might reflect the fact that children spent less time playing games than they did watching TV, say the authors.

They point out that the links between heavy screen time and mental health may be indirect, rather than direct, such as increased sedentary behaviour, sleeping difficulties, and impaired language development, and that the child's own temperament may predict screen time habits.

But they conclude that their study "suggests that a cautionary approach to the heavy use of screen entertainment in young children is justifiable in terms of potential effects on wellbeing, particularly conduct problems, in addition to effects on physical health and academic progress shown elsewhere."

Oil rises after Cyprus financial bailout agreed

BANGKOK (AP) ? The price of oil rose above $94 per barrel Monday after European nations agreed on a bailout for Cyprus that tamps down the latest flare-up in Europe's debt crisis.

Benchmark crude for May delivery was up 44 cents to $94.15 per barrel at midday Bangkok time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose $1.26, or 1.4 percent, to close at $93.71 a barrel on Friday.

Cyprus secured 10 billion euro ($13 billion) of rescue loans early Monday, just hours before a deadline set by the European Central Bank. The bank had threatened to halt emergency assistance to the country's banks if no agreement was reached by Tuesday.

The deal requires the Mediterranean island nation to shut down its second-largest bank. All bond holders and people with more than 100,000 euros in their bank accounts will face significant losses. The action is being taken to raise 5.8 billion euros that Cyprus must provide to supplement the rescue loan.

The development comes on top of optimistic expectations for the U.S. economy. Mitul Kotecha of Credit Agricole CIB in Hong Kong said U.S. durable goods orders are expected "to record an impressive gain in February" when the data is released Tuesday. He also said in a market commentary that he expects to see fourth-quarter GDP revised sharply higher.

Brent crude, used to price many kinds of oil imported by U.S. refineries, rose 51 cents to $108.17 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange in London.

In other energy futures trading on the Nymex:

? Wholesale gasoline fell 0.2 cent to $3.049 a gallon.

? Heating oil rose 0.7 cent to $2.98 a gallon.

? Natural gas rose 1.5 cents to $3.97 per 1,000 cubic feet.

2013 NFL Draft: Ryan Nassib the best quarterback in this class?

NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell believes Nassib is the best quarterback in this draft class.

We know that the Arizona Cardinals are in dire need of an upgrade at the quarterback position. They brought in Drew Stanton to possibly take over the reins for the starting job and Brian Hoyer could become a more than serviceable backup. With that, it seems highly unlikely that the Cards take a QB in the first round of the draft at 7th overall.

If they were to take someone, it would probably be Geno Smith from West Virginia. Most draft pundits agree that he is the top QB in an otherwise paltry quarterback class. But Greg Cosell of NFL Films would disagree. He believes Ryan Nassib from Syracuse projects to be the best signal caller.

Per NFL.com:

"My No. 1 quarterback based on the film study I've done is (Syracuse's) Ryan Nassib. I like him overall more than Geno Smith," Cosell said Thursday on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft." "I think he's a much more precise intermediate thrower. I think the ball comes out with a little bit better velocity at the intermediate level. And I think he's a little more accurate. And I like his footwork a little bit better.

"No one here is at the (Andrew) Luck, RG3 level. Maybe not even the (Ryan) Tannehill level. At the end of the day, Nassib, at this point, would be the guy I like the most."

This is an interesting stance from Cosell, an opinion that I take seriously. Despite his thoughts, however, it seems unlikely that Nassib gets taken in the first round, let alone at 7th overall by the Cards.

If Nassib is available when the Cardinals are selecting at 38th overall in the second round, then it will be intriguing to see what happens. I don't necessarily see him as a fit in Bruce Arians' offense, but I could be wrong.

What do you think? Is Nassib the top signal caller in this class? Or is it Geno Smith? Would you like the Cards to take a chance on Nassib? Tell us in the comments section below.

Pentagon: U.S., Afghanistan agree on prison transfer

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States agreed on Saturday to transfer to Afghan control a prison that houses insurgents and other dangerous inmates adjacent to Bagram airfield, the Pentagon said.

The agreement, reached after a week of intensified negotiations between U.S. and Afghan officials, calls for the formal transfer to take place on Monday and includes assurances that inmates who pose a danger to Afghans and international forces will continue to be detained under Afghan law.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke with Afghan President Hamid Karzai by telephone about the Parwan Detention Facility, a point of increasing friction between the two countries.

"The secretary welcomed President Karzai's commitment that the transfer will be carried out in a way that assures the safety of the Afghan people and coalition forces by keeping dangerous individuals detained in a secure and humane manner in accordance with Afghan law," Pentagon spokesman George Little said in a statement.

The United States last year agreed to hand over responsibility for most of the more than 3,000 detainees at the prison to Afghanistan and held a transfer ceremony in September. But U.S. soldiers remained at the prison and controlled the area around it.

A formal ceremony transferring the last prisoners to Afghan custody collapsed at the last minute two weeks ago when General Joseph Dunford, the U.S. head of international forces in Afghanistan, called it off because Karzai rejected part of the transfer deal.

The collapse provoked an angry response from Karzai and embarrassed both sides as Hagel was starting his first official visit to the country as defense secretary.

Hagel pushed for intensified negotiations over the past to resolve the outstanding areas of disagreement.

Hey Guys!

Shopping at the city?center?or running errands around your local town lately? While doing these regular chores, if you look closely, you will find huge changes taken place over the recent years.I?m living in Northern Province Vavuniya City, but No matter where you live, I think the little guys- the small stores, independent business owners are all disappearing. At least in my local town, majority of them can?t be found anymore. Most of the local small families running stores offering the homely personal touch are now being all swallowed up by the latest market dominants, the supermarkets and the chain stores which sell almost anything and everything you may need for the day to day life.

It is a really depressing and pathetic scene where numerous out of town retail parks and supermarkets are uprooting the locals and taking their places. Virtually, each major town or city is basically a carbon copy of one other. Anywhere you travel; there is not much diversity or change you can find anymore. In every city or town, it?s the usual brand of coffee shops, all the same cloth stores, the usual chains of garden care companies, DIY or the same restaurants or electrical outlets.These small businesses owners are struggling to survive a losing battle and are loosing their lifeblood as it is being sucked out.

You don?t have to create an expensive website with all singing and dancing works of art. The site should be updated regularly and be search engine friendly.Designing a fully functional and yet profitable website is an extremely daunting task. So, small businesses owners usually leave all the designing and technical works to the hired contractors.This sometimes turns out to be an expensive mistake. Website designers are capable of making stunning looking website designs complete using every bell and whistle.

For example, if you were running a car dealership, you would not trust the car mechanics to run your marketing campaigns. He ?may be a damn good car mechanic, but it is almost unlikely that the mechanic would also be an expert authority on marketing. Hand the control of the marketing campaigns over to him and pretty soon you?ll be out of business.Allowing your website designer to run the website for you would put you into similar situations as mentioned above.

Of course, they come with excellent design skills, but they are not experts on marketing in most cases. Only a few website designers completely understand the effective search engine optimization techniques, or how to present compelling sales information or advertisements which effectively pre-sells the products and services you intend to put on the shelves.Believe me; nobody wants a website designer who only focuses on eye catching designs with pretty looking but absolutely pointless gimmicks providing Zero efficiency.Below some tips are presented that will help you run your website with total control and eventually you?ll be running a website providing a healthy profit.

1.? Think straight and be sure about what it is that you really want. You want and need a website working 24/7 with regular earnings. Be clear about exactly what task each web page is expected to accomplish and design them accordingly. Also, in advance, decide what kind of customers your website is trying to attract.

  1. For example, are you interested in showing off your products via an online brochure or do you want to sell those on the website?
  2. ?Do you want the webpage to collect the visitor?s contact details or just want the site to let the consumers know your contact details?To keep the customers updated you can go for a blog or newsletter delivery.

2.? Place your offers and make the Buy and contact details clearly visible on the website.? People buy online to save time. So, if you want more online buyers, make the Buy button clearly seen. Make sure that your contact details are visible bright and clearly on each web page, so, the customers can call you if needed.

Hotel Contracts for Biden Trip to London, Paris Totaled $1 Million

Vice President Joe Biden's trip to Europe last month led to a hefty tab with over $1 million for hotels for himself, staff and security for two nights in London and Paris, government documents show.

As first reported by The Weekly Standard, documents show that the U.S. State Department obtained contracts with two five-star hotels in London and Paris where the vice president stayed for two nights during a five-day tour of Europe last month.

One contract was awarded to the Hyatt Regency London for a total of $459,338.65 while another went to the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand for $585,000.50

While the figure may be eye-popping, a State Department official said these costs are par for the course in high-level international trips as they also include accommodations for staff, security details and military personnel.

"These costs are nothing out of the ordinary. They are in line with high-level travel across multiple administrations," the State Department official said. "The contract costs cover the entire range of support, including accommodations for military, communications, secret service staff, and other support professionals. Security experts are also required to travel in advance of the president or vice president. Safety and security are not negotiable."

A 1999 GAO report showed that trips President Bill Clinton took to Africa, Chile and China in 1998 cost $42.8 million, $10.5 million and $18.8 million, respectively - adding up to over $72 million. There were 1302 travelers to Africa, while 592 and 510 people were on the trips to Chile and China, respectively.

The White House normally does not disclose the amount paid for the vice president and president's travel. Last year, an Air Force official told ABC News that one hour of flying time aboard Air Force One totaled $179,750 in FY2012.

White House press secretary Jay Carney would not reveal how much the president's day trip to Illinois earlier this month would cost when asked about it by ABC News' White House correspondent Jonathan Karl.

"I don't have a figure on the cost of presidential travel. It is obviously something, as every president deals with because of security and staff, a significant undertaking," Carney said. "But the president has to travel around the country. He has to travel around the world. That is part of his job."

In an interview during the campaign last year, President Obama said the decisions about travel are not up to him when he was asked if he was out of touch with ordinary Americans when his family is "jetting around" on Air Force One.

"The fact of the matter is, I think if you look at my track record, I'm raising a family here. When we travel, we got to travel through Secret Service, and Air Force One, that's not my choice. I think most folks understand how hard I work and how hard this administration is working on behalf of the American people," Obama told KMOV of St Louis.

Women's lives at risk as they stop taking breast cancer treatment too early

Women with breast cancer who are prescribed tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors after initial treatment are struggling to take medication for the full five year duration, which increases their chance of cancer returning and their risk of dying.

Findings by Breast Cancer Campaign funded researcher Dr Colin McCowan (University of Glasgow with colleagues from the University of Dundee) released in the British Journal of Cancer today, showed that at least half of women who were prescribed a five year course of anti-hormone breast cancer treatment, in Tayside, Scotland, either stopped taking, or took markedly less than their prescribed doses from the third year of treatment onwards. Women who followed their treatment regime for up to three years but then took fewer than 80% of their pills in the fourth and fifth years were at a higher risk of their cancer returning, and of dying from breast cancer, than women who took over 80% of the prescription over each of the five years.

Dr McCowan and his team at the University of Dundee studied the anonymised details of 3,361 women in Tayside who were prescribed anti-hormone treatments tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors for five years after their initial treatment. This is the current standard treatment for women with the most common type of breast cancer, oestrogen receptor positive, which accounts for around 40,000 of the 50,000 diagnosed with the disease each year in the UK. These women started taking tamoxifen (2849 women) or an aromatase inhibitor (512 women) between 1993 and 2008.

Using prescription records, researchers calculated how closely women had followed the "one a day" pill regime and for how long, over the full five year treatment duration and also by year. If women had collected less than 80% of their prescription they were classed as having a "low adherence" to their treatment.

They found that during the first year of treatment women collected, on average, 90% of their tablets. Over the next three years this figure dropped to 82%, 77% and 59% respectively. By year five half of the women were collecting 51% or less of their prescription.

The study also confirmed previous findings that women who collected less than 80% of their prescription over the whole five years were more likely to die earlier, than women who collected more of their prescription.

Breast Cancer Campaign researcher, Dr McCowan, said, "This study shows us that it's vitally important that breast cancer patients across the UK follow their prescribed treatment regimes on a daily basis for the full five year period.

"We're now looking at why women are finding it harder to take medication for extended periods of time and we do know that side effects can be a real issue for women on long term treatments such as tamoxifen. This is why women need the support of their clinicians so that they can discuss any problems they are having rather than stopping taking treatments."

Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign said, "Breast cancer treatments are there to give women the best chance of a long and full life after a diagnosis so these findings are hugely worrying. We need to give women clear, helpful and timely communication as well as the best clinical support we can, to find ways to manage what can often be extremely difficult side effects and make it easier for them to continue to take treatments. Taking tamoxifen for ten years has recently been recommended as one of the ways to prevent more breast cancers returning and reduce the chance of women dying so it's going to be even more important to help women to take drugs for longer periods of time.

"At Breast Cancer Campaign a key part of the research we're funding is to bring about new and improved, personalised treatments that have fewer side effects as well as finding ways to identify early which treatments will work best for which patients."

(AP) ? Syria's president has vowed to rid the country of Muslim extremists whom he blamed for a suicide bombing that killed 42 people, including a top Sunni preacher.

Friday's statement by Bashar Assad came hours after the explosion ripped through a mosque in the heart of Damascus, killing Sheikh Mohammad Said Ramadan al-Buti.

It was one of the most stunning assassinations of the two-year civil war and the first time a suicide bomber struck inside a mosque.

Al-Buti was a staunch supporter of Assad. More than 84 were wounded in the attack.

In the statement carried by Syria's state news agency, Assad says al-Buti represented true Islam in facing "the forces of darkness and extremist" ideology.

Assad says his forces will "wipe out" and "clean our country" of the attackers.

Risk Management - 8 questions to challenge the status quo - PwC in ...

What have you done to understand and respond to emerging risk

What are your top 5 emerging risks? In light of recent economic events, the board can no longer say it is unprepared.

An organisation?s risk management is only as good as its board. PwC research shows that top executives are particularly concerned about three key criteria and their own performance in regard to each:

  • Defining and shaping strategic objectives;
  • Measuring risk management and performance clearly; and
  • Aligning and improving risk management culture.
What have you done to assess risk in your supply chain?
  • Most supplier reviews focus on price, but less on quality or reputational risk;
  • Supply interruptions can have serious repercussions; and
  • This is an emerging risk borne of increasing supply chain complexity and inter-dependence

Is your risk management approach tick-box or value-add?

There are many red flags which indicate that your approach to risk management may lack
value:

  • Narrow definition of risk management;
  • Risk being left solely to internal audit;
  • Risk committees without board
  • representation;
  • Lack of engagement by CEO and CFO;
  • Static risk registers; and
  • Lack of proper board time devoted to risk.

How is risk management built into how you reward your people?

Do you empower your people? Are you explicit? Do you tell employees what sort of risks you?re willing to take and those you want to avoid. Don?t just assume that they understand.

  • Spell things out: define roles and responsibilities and make sure everyone knows what they can and can?t do;
  • Provide training: to support the rollout of your risk-appetite framework throughout the business;
  • Reward staff: for taking their ideas to the right people rather than going beyond their authority;

Create a learning culture: your employees will be in a better position to learn, if they don?t think that they?ll just be blamed for what they don?t know or get wrong.

What have you done to establish and maintain an appropriate risk management culture?

Many organisations have a piecemeal approach to managing risk. They haven?t understood what kinds of risk or how much risk they should accept, or used this to inform their business strategies or embedded a consistent attitude towards risk-taking.

  • Capture information about your major risks and monitor them continuously;
  • Analyse others in your sector, learn from best practice and avoid making others?mistakes;
  • Look beyond your own industry to identify new risks and opportunities;
  • Be proactive. Take calculated risks.
How do you know that risks are well managed?
  • Who do you look to tell you about how well risks are really being managed?
  • Does Internal Audit have the skills to do the job required?
  • What does the assurance map of your business look like?

Are you actively developing your risk management framework?

Do you have some element of these in your organisation?

  • Risk awareness training;
  • Workshop facilitation experience;
  • Timely methodology reviews/
  • benchmarking;
  • The use of corporate governance as risk mitigation.
How resilient to risk ?failures? are you?
  • What would be the impact of multiple significant risks occurring simultaneously?
  • Have you got adequate crisis management plans in place? Have they been tested?
  • Is your senior team adequately prepared should a crisis occur?

Automotive Computer Technician Career | Find Automotive Schools

Overview of an Automotive Computer Technician

Automotive computer technicians are professionals who work with computer technology that is incorporated into automobiles. They perform basic automotive technician duties such as being in charge of inspecting, repairing and maintaining vehicles. However, their specialty lies in using computer-based tools and programs for technical tasks. The main part of their work involves managing vehicle components and the systems that run them.

Specialists in this career are responsible for testing the computer systems incorporated into cars, small trucks and other vehicles. Examples of the systems they manage include anti-lock brakes, parking sensors and child-lock features. Anti-lock braking is an automated safety system that provides greater control over the vehicle to prevent skidding or locked wheels. Automobiles that have parking sensors alert the driver of possible obstacles when trying to park a car. A child-lock system allows a driver to switch the parental lock on, and the rest of the car locks itself automatically.

These are just some of the computer systems found in automobiles. They are controlled by technology that automotive computer technicians program before installing them inside the vehicle. Technicians have to ensure that each of these multi-faceted systems are in good working condition. Any system malfunction will be hazardous to both drivers and passengers. The systems are tested using computer programs and mechanical procedures.

Automotive Computer Technician SS82433038

Most components in automobiles today are automated. Technicians in this specialty have to understand the mechanics of each automated system. This will allow them to quickly identify problems so they can act on them right away. The diagnostic equipment they use is computerized so that scans and inspections will be easy to manage, thorough and efficient. They will have to know how to operate this equipment correctly. Technical measures are very organized. Automotive computer technicians will have standard procedures to follow. They usually make use of a checklist to ensure all areas of responsibility have been covered. These specialists? duties are not all computer-based. The computer is the main instrument they use, but they may also be required to perform hands-on tasks. Software is convenient for finding out what needs to be checked, repaired, installed and maintained. Actually handling all of this is a physical procedure that these specialized technicians have to be trained to do. The basics involve routine maintenance procedures and repairing or replacing broken parts.

This career requires great attention to detail as well as?analytically?thinking. Automotive computer technicians fix and maintain automobile software in addition to finding ways to develop these systems. They usually work full time in workshops and even during weekends to provide efficient customer service.

Education Requirements for an Automotive Computer Technician

Employers will require automotive computer technicians to have more than a high school diploma. Advanced training and experience will be needed for better job opportunities. Vocational training programs and associate degrees are acceptable.

The training and certificate programs usually last from six months to a year. They offer the minimum education requirements for the career and will be good for entry-level positions. Hands-on experience and intensive classroom instruction is provided. Associate degree programs last up to two years. There will be a wider range of subjects taught compared to training programs. Some of these include automotive repair, computers and electronics.

The preferred education requirement is a bachelor?s or master?s degree in any course related to automobiles and computers. Courses are usually taken full time for up to four years. The following are just some of the degrees and certifications related to the career.

Common Majors and Certifications:

  • Applied Science in Automotive Technology
  • Automobile Maintenance Technology
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Car Mechanics
  • Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Mathematics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Software Engineering

All these will serve as a solid formal education in being able to understand what the career calls for. Automotive computer technicians may be required to get a certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. This will be very helpful in getting a job in the field because it serves as a standard credential showing that the technician is highly qualified in their line of work.

Automotive Computer Technician Salary

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, automotive computer technicians fall under the category of automotive service technicians and mechanics. The yearly mean wage for specialists in this career was $35,790 in 2010. Automotive computer technicians received a salary from $20,200 to greater than $59,590. The median hourly wage was $17.21. The employment rate for these specialists is predicted to rise by 17 percent from 2010 to 2020.

Where do Automotive Computer Technician Work?

The top three employers that hire the most automotive computer technicians include automotive repair and maintenance companies, automotive dealerships and automotive parts, accessories and tire firms. The top three industries that pay the most are aerospace product and parts manufacturers, the computer systems design sector and natural gas distributors. The states offering the highest level of employment are California, Texas, Florida, New York and Pennsylvania.

Vehicle production is growing considerably, and the industry is coming up with more improved and technologically developed automobiles. This means there is a great demand for highly qualified technicians who have undergone formal training and education. Employers will need skilled professionals who are adept in computer technology, electronics and automobiles.

Automotive computer technicians can also go into retail, development and leasing in addition to working in automobile manufacturing. These technicians can also become consultants for businesses involved with automobile development.

Biden, Bloomberg urge Congress to have ?courage?

Biden and Bloomberg at City Hall (Screenshot via NYC Mayor's Office Live Feed)NEW YORK?Vice President Joe Biden and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg issued a joint appeal to members of Congress, urging lawmakers to ignore politics and do the ?right thing? by passing new federal gun-control laws.

In an appearance at City Hall, Biden and Bloomberg were joined by family members of some of those killed in December?s mass shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., in urging Congress to immediately pass legislation including stricter rules on background checks and a ban on assault weapons, which they both described as ?weapons of war.?

?It?s time for the political establishment to show the courage that your daughter showed,? Biden told the father of Lauren Rousseau, a Sandy Hook teacher killed while trying to protect her students.

The vice president signaled the White House wasn?t giving up on its push to ban assault weapons, insisting ?this is not about anybody?s constitutional right to own a weapon.?

He added, ?For all of those who say we can?t and shouldn?t ban assault weapons, for all those who say the politics is just too hard, how can they say that? When you take a look at those 20 beautiful babies and what happened to them? And those six teachers and administrators? Think about Newtown. Think about Newtown."

Biden's comments came just days after Senate Democrats dropped an assault weapons ban from their proposed package of gun reforms, arguing it would kill any chance of passing any new gun laws.

Bloomberg, who has emerged as one of the leading voices in favor of new gun-control laws in the aftermath of Newtown, called on lawmakers to have ?courage.? He argued that if new gun-control laws don?t pass this year, at least 12,000 people are likely to die from gun violence in 2013 alone, based on past statistics.

?In the end, what Congress has to decide is whether it?s politically popular or is it the right thing to do,? Bloomberg said.

The mayor insisted ?there is no debate? among the majority of Americans about the need for tougher background checks and bans on sales of high-capacity magazines and assault rifles.

At one point, Biden praised Bloomberg for his advocacy on guns, saying ?no support has been more consequential than the support coming from Mayor Bloomberg.?

After Biden and Bloomberg spoke, Neil Heslin, whose 6-year-old son Jesse was killed at Newtown, approached the podium and issued an emotional plea for members of Congress to pass new gun laws.

?I'm really ashamed to see that Congress doesn?t have the guts to make a change,? Heslin said, speaking in a somber tone that was barely audible. ?I never thought my son would be a victim. I wish it upon nobody what I have had to go through.?

'Real Chance of Love' Star -- Fighting Stage Four Cancer | TMZ.com

'Real Chance of Love' Star
Fighting Stage Four Cancer

Exclusive Details

0321_real_chance_instagramOne of the guys from the VH1 reality show "Real Chance of Love" has been diagnosed with STAGE FOUR colon cancer ... and is hospitalized while doctors come up with a strategy to attack the disease.

TMZ has learned Real ... real name Ahmad Givens ... is getting treatment at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Beverly Hills.

A rep for Real -- who starred with his brother on the popular dating show 'Real Chance' -- tells TMZ he first got sick in January with what he thought was the flu.

We're told 33-year-old Real went back to the hospital at least 4 times and was initially told something was wrong with his liver -- but last week doctors informed him it was colon cancer.

Stage four generally means the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

We're told the rapper-turned-reality-star will remain hospitalized at least until docs figure out what kind of treatment -- chemotherapy, radiation, or both -- he will require.

The rep says they expect a decision from doctors today.

Here's Jimmy! Fallon reportedly replacing Leno

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? As Jay Leno lobs potshots at ratings-challenged NBC in his "Tonight" monologues, speculation is swirling the network is taking steps to replace the host with Jimmy Fallon next year and move the show from Burbank to New York.

NBC confirmed Wednesday it's creating a new studio for Fallon in New York, where he hosts "Late Night." But the network did not comment on a report that the digs at its Rockefeller Plaza headquarters may become home to a transplanted, Fallon-hosted "Tonight."

The New York Times reported the plan in a Wednesday story, citing unidentified network executives. The Hollywood Reporter had a March 1 report about a Fallon-Leno switch, which was denied by the network.

Looming over NBC is its messy, failed effort to replace Leno with Conan O'Brien, which ended in 2010 with Leno regaining "Tonight" and NBC losing O'Brien ? who got a $45 million exit deal ? to TBS. Leno's current "Tonight" contract expires in September 2014.

That occurred under a different regime, before NBCUniversal was taken over by Philadelphia-based Comcast Corp., which has a reputation for discipline. While NBC dithered and backtracked on its "Tonight" succession plan involving O'Brien, Comcast is likely to be more decisive.

"I don't know if it's possible to have a less orderly transition than Leno-O'Brien," said analyst Brad Adgate of media-buying firm Horizon Media.

Fallon contacted Leno in an effort to help smooth the potential switch, according to a Hollywood Reporter story Wednesday.

The latest roiling of the late-night waters began in January when ABC moved "Jimmy Kimmel Live" back to 11:35 p.m. Eastern to offer direct competition to Leno and CBS' David Letterman.

With the potential for Kimmel, 45, to draw advertiser-favored young viewers away from Leno (62) and Letterman (65), it's unsurprising that their networks might step up their succession planning.

At 38, Fallon is the youngest of the pack.

Leno, who took over "Tonight" from Johnny Carson in 1992, did not respond Wednesday to a request for comment. But he might be taking advantage of other ways to communicate ? the "Tonight" stage and its audience of millions.

Although late-night hosts are known for needling their network bosses on-air, the timing of Leno's latest jabs at NBC seemed to make the network particularly uncomfortable. They reportedly asked him to stop; he hasn't.

"You know the whole legend of St. Patrick, right? St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland ? and then they came to the United States and became NBC executives," Leno joked on Monday's show.

On Tuesday, he played off a news report about a Serbian woman with a rare brain condition that causes her to see the world upside down: "Isn't that crazy? It's unbelievable. She sees everything upside down. In fact, she thinks NBC is at the top of the ratings."

He kept up the pace Wednesday, according to a NBC transcript released after the show's taping and with gibe included. Leno quipped that scientists may be able to clone extinct species and bring them back from the dead, "so there's hope for NBC."

Leno, who briefly moved to prime-time to make room for O'Brien, has proved himself a wily survivor. Despite the challenge from Kimmel, he and "Tonight" have remained top-rated so far.

But if a change is destined, NBC could be eying next year's Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, as a premium launch pad for a revamped "Tonight," analyst Adgate said.

"If they're going to do it, it makes sense to do it when NBC is dominating television for 17 days," he said, and can heavily promote the "Tonight" switch. "They could have Fallon in Sochi, talking it up."

In the April issue of GQ magazine, "Late Night" producer Lorne Michaels ("Saturday Night Live") said a transition to Fallon had "an inevitability to it," adding that he was the closest to Carson that I've seen of this generation."

Nuclear talks: Iran unmoved by world powers' latest proposal

Behind closed doors in Istanbul yesterday, six world powers gave Iran more details on their latest proposal to limit Iran?s most sensitive nuclear work ? an offer Iran says still has "no balance" because it asks Iran to give up more than it gets in return.

In marathon 13.5-hour talks, the world powers clarified demands made last month that Iran limit uranium enrichment to 20 percent ? a level not too far technically from bomb-grade ? and put its Fordow underground facility out of service, in exchange for modest relief from sanctions that have crippled Iran?s economy.

Iran said that the incentives were not strong enough, and that the outcome of a year-long negotiation was still too ambiguous to take initial steps that could overcome mutual mistrust. That result tempers optimism voiced by Iran in late February that changes in the six world powers' offer were a potential "turning point."

RECOMMENDED: How much do you know about Iran? Take our quiz to find out.

?From our side, [the proposed] relief of the sanctions is not proportionate with what they are asking Iran to do,? says an Iranian close to the talks who asked not to be identified further because of the sensitivity of the negotiations. ?They are asking Iran to suspend 20 percent enrichment, and reduce the readiness of Fordow, which from our point of view is [the same as] shutting Fordow down. We argued that there is no balance between what they are asking, and what they are offering.?

OBAMA: IRAN FACES 'STARK' CHOICE

The talks came as US President Barack Obama issued his annual message to mark the Persian New Year celebration, Nowruz. Mr. Obama said he was ?hopeful that our countries can move beyond tension? but that Iran?s leaders faced a stark ?choice? over their nuclear program, which he said ?threatens peace and security in the region and beyond.?

?I have no illusions about the difficulty of overcoming decades of mistrust,? said Obama, adding that the US ?prefers? a diplomatic solution.

?Indeed, if ? as Iran?s leaders say ? their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, then there is a basis for a practical solution,? said Obama. ?Now is the time for the Iranian government to take immediate and meaningful steps to reduce tensions and work toward an enduring, long-term settlement of the nuclear issue.?

NOT ENOUGH

Top diplomats from Iran and the P5+1 group (the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany) are due to meet again in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on April 5 and 6. The P5+1 wants Iran to agree to some initial limits on higher-level enrichment in exchange for easing restrictions on trade in gold and precious metals and petrochemical exports.

But its offer does not ease the sanctions against Iran?s oil exports or central bank dealings, which have done most to harm Iran?s economy and which Iran considers essential if it is to eventually, permanently curb its nuclear advances.

The P5+1 offered to enact no new United Nations Security Council or European Union sanctions against Iran, but ?the Americans did not promise anything? about preventing more unilateral US measures, said the Iranian source ? important because some in Congress are calling for further sanctions on Iran.

?The meeting also provided an opportunity for both [P5+1] and Iranian experts to explore each other's positions on a number of technical subjects,? said a statement from Michael Mann, spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, whose office handles negotiations on behalf of the P5+1.

US and P5+1 officials did not brief the press after the technical talks, referring journalists instead to the EU statement.

After the Almaty round three weeks ago, a senior US official said the revised P5+1 proposal put to Iran aimed to lay out initial steps from both sides that would ?put time on the clock.? This proposal eases earlier demands that Iran halt all enrichment right from the start, including low-levels of 5 percent; export all 20-percent enriched uranium; and close Fordow altogether.

FINDING GROUND FOR TRUST

Iran says it rejects nuclear weapons as un-Islamic and is only pursuing a nuclear program for the purpose of producing energy. But it has yet to resolve all outstanding allegations about past weapons-related work with UN nuclear inspectors, prompting concern from Washington to Tel Aviv to Beijing about its real intentions.

After the Almaty talks, Iran?s chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili told The Christian Science Monitor that it was ?not important that these steps are small,? but ?that those steps should be balanced.?

But Iran does not consider the latest P5+1 proposal to adequately reciprocate for the demands it makes on Tehran, nor ? in Iran?s view ? provide a guarantee that if Tehran took every step required, the P5+1 would respond in kind.

The negotiators discussed allotting six months for the confidence-building steps of suspending 20 percent enrichment and modifying Fordow in a way that would prevent a quick resumption of work there.

If Iran carried out such ?voluntary measures? for six months, the offer put on the table by the P5+1 would move into a ?second phase? in which Iran would be asked to take ?more significant steps,? said the Iranian source close to the talks. ?Our question was, ?What do you mean by these further, significant steps?? because these are vague, unclear statements.?

If Iran did suspend 20 percent enrichment for six months, and then that temporary suspension was renewed, ?are we going to repeat what we have done again and again? There is no guarantee here, about when and how your [P5+1] confidence could be built. You are only relieving some of the sanctions, not lifting the sanctions,? added the source.

Those questions were not answered in Istanbul: ?Either they did not know what the further significant steps were, or they didn?t want to say anything about it,? said the Iranian source. ?Both sides have a problem of attitudes. They don?t have the attitude of changing, or solving anything.?

In his Nowruz message, Obama told Iranians, ?Every day that you are cut off from us is a day we?re not working together, building together, innovating together.? He quoted the ancient Persian poet Hafez about planting the ?tree of friendship.?

But Iran?s state-run Press TV said Obama ?laid the blame (on) Iranian leaders? for sanctions, and had at times in the message adopted a ?threatening tone.?
