Job Summary/Basic Function:
East Stroudsburg University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position with the Department of Mathematics beginning August 2013. The Mathematics Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Concentrations in Applied Mathematics or Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. As part of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education ( PASSHE), we offer competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach four courses or the equivalent per semester with a maximum of three different preparations at the undergraduate or sometimes the graduate levels. Course load will include courses for mathematics majors as well as general education and service mathematics courses. Additional duties include mentoring and advising undergraduate students, engaging in scholarly activities and providing service to the Mathematics Department, the University and community. Teaching may include distance learning and/or off campus teaching.This is a posting for consideration by PASSHE faculty with rights under Article 29 of the Agreement between APSCUF and PASSHE.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Mathematics in a mathematical field related to algebra. ABD candidates will be considered but a clear statement of progress towards the degree is required. Previous college teaching experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in using technology in a wide variety of settings including using technology as a tool for teaching mathematics and as a tool for supporting mathematics learning. Preference will be given to candidates with a familiarity with or openness to course redesign methods. Preference will also be given to candidates with a commitment to teaching undergraduate mathematics including service and general education courses in mathematics and to those with a record of and plan for scholarly activities. Additionally, preference will be given to those candidates with experience in dealing with diverse populations.
